MS. ELIZABETH DULL
3RD DEGREE BLACK BELT
OWNER OF DYNAMIC SELF DEFENSE OF ATLANTA
Ms. Elizabeth Dull (Beth) was born in 1961 and christened Aida Elizabeth deBray. Ms. Dull grew up with four brothers and sisters and developed a strong sense of standing up for herself. A native of Atlanta, she attended Druid Hills High School, Oglethorpe and Georgia State Universities. While working her way through college she met and married John R. Dull, D.C. After a career path involving typesetting and proofreading, (for a small DeKalb County Newspaper and later for the Georgia Department of Transportation) Beth changed careers and entered the field of Dentistry.
Initially hired to type and proofread grant proposals for the Emory University School of Dentistry, she progressed into the position as patient coordinator of the Graduate program for Periodontics. The challenge of this position was scheduling ten doctors and their patients throughout their two year program and rotations through hospital residencies.
It was at this time that Ms. Dull and her husband began a family and once again a career change, leaving Emory and working to manage her husband’s private Chiropractic practice. After two children and years working together with her husband, Ms. Dull returned to dentistry and currently manages a private practice in Stone Mountain, GA.
At a time in her life when extra curricular activity consisted of needlework and vacuuming, her daughter Taylor began training in Choi Kwang Do with Mr. Scott Fountain. Almost on a lark she began her martial arts training, in 1997, as a way to bond with an offspring. Soon, feeling left out, Beth’s son Grant began to train and eventually attained the same rank of 1st Degree Black Belt as his sister. Had it not been for Mr. Fountain offering an incredible initial experience, followed by Master Eric Hennings’ instruction beginning at the level of green belt, she would not be here today as a 3rd Degree Black Belt and Examiner for Dynamic Self Defense International. Ms. Dull’s desire to be the best drove her to constantly ask her instructors how to hold an arm, hand, leg or head. She attained the rank of brown belt in Choi Kwang Do before joining Master’s Hennings and Lowrey at the inception of Modern Defense Martial Art.
In 1999 Master Hennings contacted Ms. Lameh Aldashi and Ms. Dull and announced he would be opening a school in Marietta thus leaving the Atlanta branch to them. Since that time they have established a program with a great reputation for detail of technique, personal confidence and growth of the human spirit for children and adults. Ms. Dull’s greatest pleasure comes from seeing her students progress and grow in their art and personal lives.
